Leon was born and raised in Joplin,
Missouri. He attended Joplin public schools and graduated in May
of 1972 from Missouri Southern State College with a bachelors of
science degree in accounting.
He began his banking career in July of 1972 and
is a graduate of six banking schools including the National Commercial
Lending Graduate School at the University of Oklahoma and the Stonier
Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
Leon currently is president of American Bank of
Montana, with offices in Bozeman, Whitefish, Big Sky, Livingston
and Big Timber. Previously he was Executive Vice President and Chief
Credit Officer of American Bank of St. Paul, Minnesota; Executive
Vice President and Senior Lending Officer of Boatmen’s Bank
of Oklahoma; and Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer
of First Interstate Bank of Wisconsin (in addition to other banking
positions in Missouri and Oklahoma). He has extensive experience
in and management responsibility for all phases of commercial lending
(agriculture, energy, commercial real estate, standard commercial,
international), retail lending, and credit administration. In addition,
Leon’s experience spans bank-wide asset liability management,
planning, and staff development.
