Enjoying the Messiah in Australia: Technological Blessings of the Christmas Holiday 

Ramona and I have a long tradition of attending Bozeman's Messiah Community Sing.  We find it especially satisfying to share it with Christian and Jewish friends and we always adjourn to a fine dinner.   This satisfying package of blessings was not available this year.

Bozeman’s Messiah was canceled due to COVID 19, surely a prudent move.    Alas, we missed this annual celebration of community and friendship.   Fortunately, technology brings forth good, but hardly a perfect substitute.  

Technology has many blessings far beyond medical progress, ever better transportation, and vastly improved insulation of clothing and homes.    For example, last night Ramona found the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs playing the Messiah on YouTube!  The performance wasn’t as dramatic as Leonard Bernstein conducting portions of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Messiah (which we can play on disk).  Still, we loved hearing and watching the live performance from Australia, even under Virus circumstances.  

We watched and listened on a MacBook Pro and the sound was good. Let’s appreciate technology and generalized prosperity, often underappreciated blessings.  

How wonderful to live in a First World Nation--and specifically in a place where liberty, ecology and prosperity intersect!  We are blessed indeed.
